Your mission
We are looking for a motivated Ukrainian and Russian speaking psycho-social counselor based in Ukraine to join our fabulous Ukrainian psychological counseling team. This role is essential for providing support to people affected by the war in Ukraine through our chat platform.

Start date: January 15, 2026
Location: remote from Ukraine, 20 h/week with evening and weekend shifts
Contract: Limited until 31.12.2026, funded by the SOS Project
Requirements: Valid FOP (Type 3), based in Ukraine
Compensation: Freelance agreement with Ukraine-specific rates (~14.700 EUR per year assuming 20h -week)

Your main responsibilities:

  • Provide people affected by the war in Ukraine with psycho-social support through scheduled chat shifts (including evenings and weekends)
  • Accompany the volunteer counselors in the best possible way to provide high-quality chat consultation on our platform

Your further tasks will be:

  • Assess and accompany chats that deal with acute moments of crisis or endangerment
  • Support our volunteer counselors with content-related questions
  • Contribute to our product transformation through highly valued feedback
  • Participate in internal meetings, workshops, lectures, intervision, and supervision
  • Execute administrative tasks - documentations, reports, similar - where required.
Your profile

Must-haves:

  • Master's degree in psychology or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Clinical knowledge of problems and disorders in children and adolescents and trauma

  • Ideally, first-hand practical experience in the accompaniment and counselling or crisis intervention for children, adolescents or adults under stress

  • You are highly confident in speaking and writing in Ukrainian and Russian (Level C1-C2 in both)

  • You are confident in internal communication in English (not necessarily counselling) - language skills in English at ~ B2

  • Very high level of resilience in critical situations

  • Feeling for sensitive and resonance-based communication 

  • Good self-regulation skills

  • Ability for self-reflection

  • Ability to work in a team and independently

  • Certain degree of flexibility in scheduling

Nice-to-have:

  • Flexibility, fun and curiosity in testing digital support services and communicating about tech-focused topics to other stakeholders outside the team.

About us

krisenchat is a nationwide, free support service for children and young adults in need. We offer children and young people professional psychosocial counselling - every day, 24 hours a day, via WhatsApp or text message. krisenchat has been available 24/7 since the beginning of May 2020 - since then, the many crisis counselors have been able to help in over 120.000 crisis situations. Since 1 March 2022, krisenchat Ukrainian has also been providing confidential crisis counseling in Ukrainian and Russian for people affected by war at any age - with over 23.000 consultations provided. In addition to crisis counseling, krisenchat reaches many millions of young people every year through psychoeducation via social media platforms.
